What happens if we hit rock that wasn't in the borings?+
We carry hydraulic breaker attachments on our machines and have relationships with licensed blasting subcontractors for larger volumes. When differing site conditions are encountered, we document them with photos, measurements, and survey shots, and coordinate with the GC and owner on a change order basis.
How do you price excavation — lump sum or unit price?+
Both. Large volume work is often unit-priced per cubic yard (bank measure) with haul rates broken out separately. Structural pad and utility trench work is typically lump sum with a defined scope. We walk the site with you before finalizing bid form.
Do you handle unsuitable material disposal?+
We identify unsuitable soils — muck, organics, wet clays — during the estimating phase using borings and visual inspection. Disposal can be hauled off-site to a licensed fill site, or if the volume is right, we coordinate a local acceptance point. We handle the documentation.
